Meet the Team

NBIS has increased its staff complement.  Pat Lorber, Biological Records Officer for a number of years with the Norfolk Biological Records Centre was joined this autumn by Martin Horlock who will take the lead in developing the Geographical Information System (GIS) capabilities of NBIS, and Su Waldron, who will be involved with communicating the work of NBIS.  Read more about our team below:

Pat Lorber, Biological Records Officer at NBIS, joined the Norfolk Biological Records Centre at Gressenhall in 2001 when it was located in the Norfolk Museums and Archaeology Service, and moved with it to Planning and Transportation in 2006.
She has an extensive wildlife background including several years as Nest Record Card Organiser for Zimbabwe, The Natural History Museum, Zimbabwe, seabird projects at the Fitzpatrick Institute of African Ornithology in Cape Town, and spent ten years as Curator of the Bolus Herbarium at the University of Cape Town.

Martin Horlock, Biodiversity Information Officer, joined NBIS in October 2008 following five years with the Suffolk Biological Records Centre as GIS officer and, prior to that, employment within the Norfolk Historic Environment Record. Martin will take the lead role in developing GIS within the service in particular habitat mapping and modeling. He will also develop and maintain the Recorder 6 database and answer commercial enquiries to the service.

 

 

Su Waldron, Temporary Biological Records Officer joined NBIS in October this year following many years with Natural England and its predecessor, English Nature, where she was responsible for publications, press releases and event planning and delivery.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Sam Neal, Environmental Information Support Officer works part time for NBIS on technical and spatial mapping projects using GIS and other IT.
